Resumo
As placas de xisto são um dos grandes temas da arte pré-histórica europeia: com uma personalidade muito vincada, em termos de linguagem gráfica, embora ecoando gostos e soluções artísticas de carácter mais transcultural.
Aborda-se aqui, por um lado, a eventual inspiração do estilo das placas na estética específica das artes das fibras e, por outro, o carácter antropomórfico que essa inspiração parece implicar.
A descoberta de uma verdadeira oficina de placas de xisto, com todas as etapas da cadeia operativa bem representadas, num povoado de fossos sinuosos (Águas Frias, Alandroal), permite-nos rever os modelos interpretativos mais correntes, em vários aspectos fundamentais.
A relação entre as placas ditas “alentejanas” e a arte rupestre neolítica pode ser abordada, desde logo, em termos iconográficos e, na verdade, diversos autores o têm tentado: no centro dessas análises destacam-se as eventuais relações entre a temática expressa nas placas e os temas presentes na chamada “arte megalítica”.
Este trabalho centra-se, no entanto, nas questões espaciais implicadas na comparação entre a distribuição geográfica das placas, a sua área nuclear de proveniência e a distribuição da arte rupestre no Alentejo Central, nomeadamente o Complexo Rupestre do Alqueva
Abstract
The slate plaques are one of the great themes of European prehistoric art, with a very strong personality in terms of graphic language, while echoing tastes and artistic solutions of more transcultural type.
I address here, on the one hand, the possible inspiration for the style of the plaques in the specific aesthetic of fiber arts and, secondly, the anthropomorphic character that seems to imply that inspiration.
The discovery of a real workshop for the manufacturing of slate plaques, with all stages of the operative chain, represented in a neolithic ditched village (Águas Frias, Alandroal) allows us to review the most current interpretative models in several key respects.
The relationship between the “alentejan” plaques and the Neolithic rock art can be approached from the outset in iconographic terms and, indeed, some authors have tried it: in the center of this analysis we highlight the possible relationships between the themes expressed in the plaques and the themes present in the "megalithic art".
This paper focuses, however, on the spatial issues involved in the distribution of rock art in Central Alentejo, including the Alqueva Complex. |
